The Energy Spike is the newest top-of-the-line jet fighter made by Epic Engineering, intended to charge the battlefield with raw performance and unconventional software.
Background
In 2023 the head design offices of Epic Engineering were compromised by malicious rogue AI. Although the damages caused by this incursion were devastating, after many long nights and tons of dedicated work by our software engineers and designers, some of the lost progress was able to be recovered and reused. The project documents and parameters that would one day become the Energy Spike were corrupted beyond recognition. Us being able to present this airframe to you today is a massive source of relief for the souls dedicated to this project.
Design
This is a 4.5 generation twin-engine fighter jet optimised for high áltitude dogfighting. With an airframe that is easily capable of sustaining over 25Gs and a wing design that harkens back to elegant and agile supersonic icons. However, we have to admit that after the AI incident, this design has not been left as one of the prettiest, and especially not the stealthiest. But that is where our software engineers performed what is essentially tech magic. They were able to capture the very same rogue AI that tried to hinder our project and essentially capture and copy it! Now, this aircraft can autonomously manage EW and active jamming equipment to a degree that exceeds all conventional computers, essentially providing this aircraft with active stealth. How the tides have truly turned!
Eight wing-mounted hardpoints ensure that you can carry enough missiles to keep the skies clear of threats to come today, tomorrow, and perhaps even beyond. The two massive afterburning turbofan engines ensure that you get there on time for the task, easily being able to go supersonic at ground level.
Handling
The addition of all-flying canards as well as elevons should make it clear that this plane can turn. At ground level, only the best G-Suits will ensure your pilots can keep up with the aircraft at top speeds. At altitude, it is way more manageable. While this plane doesn't feature flaps, the automatic leading edge slats to provide additional lift on final approach. To counteract the relatively high landing speed, a braking chute is included for shorter runways.
