Auto Credit Based on TheStapler's P-38 Lightning
What if the Americans, instead of developing new jets after WW2, just decided to streamline some P-38s? And just bolted on some jet engines? And then for good measure made it VTOL capable? This is the aircraft that would've resulted. Great forward flight characteristics, and will hover happily at around 60-80 percent power. Group 1 for main engine control, group 2 for vtol nozzles.
