Auto Credit Based on McChezborger's STOL conversion challenge

True story, really! I was just sitting around at the FBO, with nothing going on, and Mr. McChezborger taxis up. He's got an RC-7 Sparrow, never seen one of those in real life. What a mess!

So he comes up to me and says, "This fine, fine aircraft needs an upgrade. I want to land and takeoff in my local McDonald's parking lot. Mayor McCheese is family, and I go to visit often."

So I says, "No problem, buddy, but I'll need to put more than lipstick on this pig! I need to put her on a diet. She needs to be a fifth of the present weight. We'll give her bigger wings. I'll tear out that diesel engine that they stole from a bus and replace it with a smaller lighter engine. Now if you look closely at the prop, those RC-7s come with a prop made from two canoe paddles strapped together. We'll replace that with a nice 4-blade Hamilton-Standard."

He goes, and we get to work. It was worse than what I said. The wings didn't even have a proper Clark Y airfoil. I think it was a Clark Y-Not. I've never been one for those fancy aerodynamic fairings, we'll strip it down to just bare wings. Nothing more beautiful than the natural shape of an airfoil (in the SimplePlanes Universe).

The aircraft skin was wrought iron. Imagine! A single seater that weighed 8,000 pounds. We replaced the skin with carbon fiber, and tore out a part of the empennage and just replaced it with a truss.

Surprisingly, the work went well. We even had time to lengthen and move the landing gear forward like in a Helio Courier to try to avoid braking tip overs. We removed the wing center section and replaced it with a moonroof.

Finally, we also decided that in order to really grease those landings at McDonalds, he still needed more lift. First, I gave the wing a 5 degree angle of incidence and added trim to the tailplane to help out in level flight. Then one of the guys suggested adding an extra wing. Nothing says STOL like a biplane. She'll practically hover now!

I think Mr. McChezborger was impressed. The day after we delivered it, he came in with Happy Meals for all our hard working staff. What a nice guy! All told, it was another win for Critical Air-o-space!

Thank you, although sadly after this mayor mccheese accidentally opened the canopy mid flight trying to swat a fly on the dashboard, and got flung out. There were cheese splatters and hamburger bits everywhere, yet somehow the plane landed it’s self, 9/10
