Variant: SkyCorps NDF-18J Fighting Hornet
Weapons Load-out: Air Superiority
Introduction:
The SkyCorps NDF-18J Fighting Hornet (NDF–Naval Defense Fighter) is a Veridisian licensed-built production of Boeing’s single seat F/A-18E Super Hornet.
After SkyCorps greenlit a licensed-built production for the F/A-18 Super Hornet, two variants were planned to be built–one for strike delivery, and one for carrier defense. The NDF-18J was conceptualized and its prototype made its maiden flight alongside the prototype for the NAF-18K on December 15, 1999. It was officially introduced to service on July 25, 2005.
Used mainly for the defense of naval ships, it has a shorter operational range of only 500 kilometers. Its strike capabilities are only limited to munitions less than 2,000 pounds (907 kilograms) and air-to-surface missiles. What makes up for this however is its agile fighter elements, its ability to track six enemy targets simultaneously, and being able to carry more than 20 air-to-air missiles of different types.
