Introdution

In 2002, the Army of the Hickson Republic made recommendations for some deficiencies and improvements to the in-service HM1 Pamaga, including an outdated targeting system, complicated operating procedures and concerns about the safety of the crew. The project for the improved Pamaga was launched and executed by Manggis Vehicles and Belus Precision Industries, and the first improved Pamaga was come out in 2006, named HM1A1, and production began the following year.

Improvement project

Body:
1. Modify the suspension system
2. Improve engine cooling and exhaust

Weapons:
1. Improved BS-120 main gun
2. Add coaxial machine gun
3. Replace the commander's machine gun

Crew configuration and equipment:
1. Install new gunner sighting equipment
2. Remotely controlled weapons stationed and operated by the gunner
3. Install commander's sighting equipment
4. The position of the commander is moved from the right to the left
5. The commander's machine gun turret is equipped with an observation window and enhanced protection
6. Driver position moved from center to left
