[KE-RP] BS54T Heron — Long-Range Tanker/Transport Aircraft

Overview

The BS54T Heron, similar to the BS54E Condor in the sense that it is a modified BS54-100, is a tanker model. It first started development in 1967 (no pun intended) after the lack of a solid tanker fleet became evident. So the Fuerza Aérea de Españila ordered the creation of the BS54T program alongside the BS54E program. It utilizes a boom system for aerial refueling, and two small systems inside separate pods underneath the wings for an optional (not modeled) drogue and probe method of refueling. It houses a light communication system just forward of the boom operator, which informs the refueling aircraft on what actions to take in order to connect. It holds a better navigation system, and even communication system compared to previous similar aircraft (excluding the BS54E). It is not just for aerial refueling however, and is also adapted for cargo. It is a half-and-half of the two categories, keeping logistics easier. Although not the biggest, it is still capable of carrying a large amount of cargo. In the below Gallery, three separate GB-14A Truenos, (soon to be released), are shown in the midst of aerial refueling. Just a subtle teaser.

    @Edmund13 yes, the BS54 has very large GBE engines and requires a low wing loading for easier access to the cargo hold. This results in the need for taller landing gear.

    @SimplyElegant I dont need one, I’ve already been putting the BS54T into production this year, and by 1970 tmrw we’ll have 50 in service. I dont need to complicate logistics with a new tanker when this one works perfectly fine.
    And as for the bomber, it contains a lot of advanced systems for guided munitions, fly by wire, and flight control. As well as guarded GCI munitions that we dont export such as the BGP-500 or MICLA-7O. We cannot export this bomber platform to anyone because of these reasons. It’s also not worth it to trade the 2 tankers and the bombers for another tanker under maintenance that my pilots and maintenance crews arent even trained on or have parts for

    @B1 you could buy one?
    The only one we have is under maintenance, but we could trade it for 2 of these and one of your new swing wing bombers…

    @SimplyElegant i prefer to not depend on foreign countries as much, i like to keep my logistics independent.

    @B1 why do you need a new in air refueling system?

    @xXLouisPlayzXx it would most likely be military logistics/cargo.

    @xXLouisPlayzXx might just make the GAMBT-Y950M2 though, its already modeled i would just have to upload it

    @B1 lmao that's a LOT of info I didn't take into account.... If you want, I could ship a sinple fuselage and wing design for your (maybe) future aircraft! Would it be passenger, cargo, or military?

    @xXLouisPlayzXx also i am kinda occupied with a ton of other projects in KE, if i can I’ll make smth like what u said. But thats if i finish the GB-14 Trueno bomber, MFV-18 Toro IFV, GAMBT-Y970M1, and the GBH-10B Super Kodiak (Yes you heard me right, the super Kodiak, redoing the Kodiak helicopter 😭)

    @xXLouisPlayzXx I’ll look into it, it will be very difficult though…
    First I’d need to entirely redesign the flight deck so it would be a perfect fit, redesign the windshield, nose, and fuselage mounts, doors, windows, cargo loading, wing size and placement, engine size, stabilizers, and landing gear. It would be much easier to just build a completely different aircraft with those specifications instead 😭
    Furthermore I will be keeping this one in service until the 1990s, and maybe 2000s. I dont plan to replace it any time soon because its already such a perfect platform for my country’s needs tbh

    @B1 no problem! Could you make a widebody quad version for this series in the future? That would be sick.
