Nieuport-Delage NiD 52 (Republican Spain)

5,835 orendel  6.3 years ago

The NiD 52 was a French fighter from 1927. It was bought in larger numbers by the Spanish air force between 1930 and 1933. At the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War the Republican side had about 45, the Nationalists 11 of these planes. There was at least one battle when NiD 52s from both sides fought each other. When the Nationalists got support from Germany and Italy the NiD 52 proved obsolete against the more advanced Messerschmitt and Fiat fighters.
There was not one NiD 52 that survived the war.
