[Version 2.0] Grigorovich IP-2 (DG-54)
I’m back!! This sleek heavy fighter has a nasty surprise for any enemy that dares to attack it head-on.
Features:
- 1x 20mm cannon firing through propeller hub
- 10x .30 cal ShKAS machine guns in wings
- Custom landing gear
- Flaps
History:
Grigorovich conceived this beautiful fighter in the winter of 1935-1936. The IP-2 fighter was conceived as a single-seater monoplane with cantilever low wing and beautiful lines, which promised excellent performance. In its plan view it was similar to the British Supermarine Spitfire
The IP-2 maintained the elliptical wing introduced in the IP-1. The main difference is that in the case of the IP-2 , builders were forced to install an inverted gull-like wing in order to raise the nose from the ground in the presence of a larger diameter propeller.
The fuselage in this case maintained a construction similar to that of the IP-1, but had an elongated nose to accommodate the Klimov M-100A engine, licensed version of the Hispano-Suiza 12Ycrs of 860 hp. The tail was elliptical and was of cantilever construction.
The landing gear maintained the retraction system with the wheels semi-exposed in specially designed fairings under the wings.
Another novel detail in the IP-2 was the closed cockpit for the pilot. This fighter included a powerful weapon system consisting of a 20mm ShVAK cannon located in the engine V and ten 7.62 mm ShKAS machine guns located in the planes. Under-wing pylons were provided to carry up to 400 kg of bombs.
Even though a full-scale prototype was built, this airplane did not see production due to the fact that the Polikarpov I-16 was already in full-scale production and it was seen that no other fighter was needed.

Thanks! @Trijets
Noice
Thanks! @Mustang51
Man this is a really cool build! Awesome job
Oh. I’ll probably get around to that when absolutely needed. For I run iOS and Overload isn’t possible even though I want it tremendously. @Trainzo
@AircraftoftheRedStar , cockpit .
Glassware? @Trainzo
A beautiful achievement . You improve your constructions . You should now try to make your glassware instead of taking the standard . Great replica .
