The Sukhoi Su-9, or Samolyet K (Russian: Aircraft K), (USAF/DOD designation: Type 8),[2] was a jet fighter built by the Soviet Union shortly after World War II. Its design began in 1944 with the intention of using Soviet-designed turbojet engines. Its design was heavily influenced by captured German jet fighters and subsequently redesigned to use a copy of the German turbojet engine.
