An inter-war design, the prototype Dragon-class Type 4 was found to be lacking modernization in several areas. It was given a 500 8-cyl [Fire Stone] inline-incline [Magic] engine and a single wing, allowing it to get up to 180 mph in level flight, as well as helped test the feeding system for four nose mounted 7.7 Chatta MGs. A new, revised addition was needed to keep up with the increasingly more militaristic Japan....
