Manual Transmission (KB 1-01)

2,479 TheSimpleMan  11 hours ago

This is my presentation of what I hope you will think of as one of the good examples of a manual transmission in Simple Planes.

I built this platform to have (somewhat) realistic weight, speed, braking power and so on, as well as a 5- speed gearbox.

The gearbox works by detecting where the shifter is and adjusting the gear ratio accordingly, which was done with Funky Trees. This is my first time “coding” anything with Funky Trees (credit to TenSeven for inspiration ) but I think it works rather well. Anywho-

The above Diagram shows how to switch into gears, with the middle being neutral. This can be done by dragging the lever itself, or using the game’s Pitch and Roll Joystick.

The throttle is tied to the gears to make driving take only 2 hands, as you need 1 to steer using Roll.

As for the Car:The interior is fully interactive and can even be operated in first person using only cockpit controls. It has some hidden features I hope you find enjoyable.

The exterior takes after late-80’s Golfs and Quattros, mostly by happen-stance.

I built this in order to have a somewhat realistic experience when modifying vehicles suspensions, brake torque, gearing, aero and so on. I hope you enjoy it as well.

Activations:
1 - Lights
2 - Doors
3 - Hood
4 - Trunk
5 - Sun Visors
6 - Fuel Door
7 - Hazards
8 - Ignition

P.S. I hope to be releasing two more version, one being geared for off-roading and climbing, and one for racing.

Edit- the website kinda goofed the diagram but you get the idea
