Folding wings were obsolete at the Cold War periods. However, the VDB experimented with folding wing technology and created the VAC-103, an experimental propeller powered aircraft that used folding wings to reduce drag. It could also “dance” in the air to slightly rotate its body. It was not great at landing, but it was an inspiration to other leading aircraft companies.
