The AMX A-1, or simply AMX is an air-to-surface attack fighter-bomber used for interdiction, close air support and aerial reconnaissance missions. It was developed by the international consortium AMX Internacional. In the Brazilian Air Force, it is designated A-1 (A-1A for the single-seater version and A-1B for the two-seater version). With the modernization, the A-1 incorporates the M in its FAB designation, thus becoming A-1M. In Italy he has the nickname "Ghibli".
The AMX is capable of operating at high subsonic speeds at low altitude, both day and night, and if necessary, from poorly equipped bases or with damaged runways. The fighter has a relatively low infrared signature and reduced frontal section to the radar, to improve its percentage of success in missions. Self-defense is provided by air-to-air missiles, integrated cannons and electronic countermeasure systems.
