This is my entry for Yourlocalhuman’s 50 Part Challenge. It is a Simple Sukhoi Su-7, NATO reporting name: ‘Fitter’. The Su-7 was developed in the mid-1950s to address a pressing issue in the Soviet Air Force. When Nikita Khrushchev came to power in the Soviet Union in 1953, he micromanaged the Soviet military a fair bit, with top brass of the belief that in a WW3 scenario, standoff conventional and nuclear missiles would be the primary weapon. By the mid-1950s, the Soviets realized the value of a fast attack bomber, and to this end, the Su-7 was produced. First entering service in 1961, it filled this role. The aircraft has a bit of mixed operational history, hampered by poor operations in poor weather conditions, high landing speeds, but was liked by pilots for easy handling and simple flight characteristics, and very high speeds, even at low altitude. The Egyptian and Indian air forces were the only ones to use the jet in combat, to mixed success. The aircraft was eventually retired by the Soviets by 1986.

This my entry to Yourlocalhuman’s 50-part challenge. There’s not much to it, basic flight performance, default weapons, nothing fancy.
