History

The MiG-21 was falling behind in fighter technology, with rivals like the F-104 and the Mirage 3, so the Soviet Union needed a fighter as fast as possible. Mikoyan & Gurevich had them covered with a fast, agile, and relatively versatile fighter, the MiG-23. But as the years flew, even this aircraft was showing its age, so they had to resort to a complete modernization, converting and creating the definitive MiG-23, thus giving birth to the MiG-23MLD.

The Mig-23MLD it's a modernized version of the old Mig-23ML, more powerful, faster, agile and better in every aspect of the Mig-23 series, it's a light figther, only 1 engine and 1 pilot, with it's characteristic variable wing system, the intakes are at the sides of a central fuselage that carries the main and rear landing gear, from the middle section emerges the root of the wings and the hoolder section that contains the variable system, in the foward position it's the cockpit, fused with the fuselage and forming the nose with the radome.
The airbrakes are in the rear, near the nozzle of the engine, talking about the engine, it's a powerful Khatchaturov R-35 turbojet, the horizontal stabilizer has a all-surface movement design, and it has too a self-foolding ventral fin below the horizontal stab level.

As a light figther, it has little weaponry, distributed in

23 millimeter explosive ammo made for CAS and really close combat situations.
x2 R-23R

Medium range Semi-active radar missile, able to take down planes in a 15 kilometer range, but with the downside of having to maintain the lock.
x2 R-60M

Short range IR guided missile, able to take down planes in a 7.5 kilometer range, with the Fire-and-forget capability.
x2 PTB External Fuel Tank

Two external detachable fuel tanks under the wings that provide 1600 liters of extra fuel.

Custom Landing Gear

The real plane has a really weird Landing Gear, it's all modeled almost like the real one
Drag chute

As it's original versión, this Mig-23 has a drag chute for those rough landings
Custom nozzle

The engine has a custom nozzle (the third more complicated nozzle i ever Made) for more realism
Custom cabin

After a damn year, finally i come back with the Funky ultra complicated cockpit, almost all the cockpit it's modeled here, i say almost, not all, there are a few things that i couldn't made.
Engines, systems and random things

A lot of systems are coded in Funky trees, again, not all the systems that the og Mig-23 had, but things like the Hydraulic system, HUD, engine start up, radar, a custom Landing Gear code (youll see what i'm refering later), cabin locks, RWR, selectable HUD's, warning ligths, weapons systems, custom flaps systems, custom trim systems, Even a damn custom guidance system for a KH-23. (No navigation system for you, too complicated that i give up at the end)

Startup
This is the first plane with Funky Trees in a while, so this checklist will be in English so everyone can start the plane normally
Start Up Mig-23MLD

1.Enable the AC, the DC supply and the Battery plate switch in the right panel
2.In the same panel, enable the Gen 1 and Gen 2 switch, wait until the green light turn on
3.Enable the APU, the Fuel unit and pump switch, when the APU light turn on push the Engine start mode lever to the ground position
4. With the APU on startup mode press the start button and wait 10-12 seconds until the engine stand by itself
5.After that, lower the Startup level to the Crank position and wait for the hydraulic gauge to make it marked values
6. Enable both HUD switchs, the ballistic
computer and the cannon system, after the hyd gauge stop moving, enable the Wings and the fuselage hydraulic units
7. Turn the trim actuator, the lights and every labeld switch and knob in the right up panel
8. Switch the HUD calc mode to UP and with the knob, select the HUD position and turn the HUD bright knob until the marker says 1
9. Close the cabin and put the lock in the maximum position
10. Turn on the flaps and the Gear mode for more realism
11. Start the instruments and shut down the APU
