This was created for a challenge to build a plane from a particular set of parts.

Fictional details:

The GPM-48 Hollin is a single-engined propeller plane aimed at hobby pilots. The standard version is known mainly for its simple design and for being stable and easy to fly on longer journeys.
This example was seized during government operations against an Afghan warlord and has been modified with some unusual features. Guns have been mounted in the wings, using the existing access points for the landing gear as their mounts. Whoever did it had some mechanical skill, as they have been synchronised and work reliably. Less impressive is the addition of air brakes and a parachute brake to the tail section - these seem unnecessary in such a light aircraft, and the parachute will cause the plane to crash if deployed at the wrong time.
Interrogation of the prisoners taken has discovered that this plane was used by the warlord to help coordinate the more widely spread portions of their operation, as well as being a status symbol to gain more respect and authority. This seems plausible - although the plane is totally unsuited to dogfighting (and would probably fare poorly against a modern combat helicopter), it could have been used to strafe ground targets. This would be a psychological weapon as well as a physical one, adding stature and unsubtly reminding any rebellious subordinates that disobedience would be unlikely to result in staying alive for very long.
