The BF110 was Nazi Germany's heavy fighter at the start of WWII, known as the destroyer it carried formidable armaments and was fast enough to evade most single engine fighters. In the battle of Poland and the Blitzkrieg over France and the low countries the 110's proved capable, however in the Battle of Britain the 110's got hammered as they where used in a close protection role for the bombers a role that the faster more agile single engine fighters picked on. Subsequently 110's f found other uses for example as night fighters and as close air support, roles that they proved to be very capable of.
