Background
I wanted to do some dogfighting and realized I never went all in on a WWII era aircraft. The design inspiration heavily reflects the P-40 if it was scaled up to be a long-range interceptor. This thing really likes to turn and has ample power, especially if you enable War Emergency power.
Features
I've been dabbling a bit more than usual with FunkyTrees and was able to give it some fun features!
Air-to-Air Gunsight: This one took a lot of work, It's pretty accurate. It takes target distance/angle and my aircraft's attitude to try generating a gun solution to hit the target. To use it, Select a target, and fly to align the pipper on the target. By default, it will steer towards the target and center on the target. Once you pass your nose in front of the target, the pipper will fall down. This is when you apply or release pull to align the pipper on the target (I noticed you tend to want the pipper on the nose of the target.)
Auto Gun Convergence: The guns and cannons are mounted to joystick bases as gimbals. The guns only move inward and the cannons move inward and try to compensate muzzle drop. When a target is selected, the guns will detect target distance and converge (Cross-eye) to the correct distance. Note: This is not auto-aim, the guns still point forward and you still have to manually fly the plane into a proper lead solution, It just tightens the grouping based on target range when you do get that shot.
Custom ADI: I realized that I had already built half of this in a previous build. My Catfish fighter used a FunkyTrees function to remain level regardless of my aircraft's turn. This is essentially what an ADI does just in two degrees. I wasn't happy with the default SP ADI or the wing level gauge so I decided to build my own. (Feel free to use this ADI on your future builds.)
Cowl Flaps: I've modeled cowl flaps so that throttle moves them 10 degrees and if you're velocity is increasing by a rate of 5m/s or faster they deploy to the full 40 degrees. I've also included micro-flutter based on speed. Keep an eye on the Cowl Flaps gauge to monitor the position.
Others: Some less notable features include Flaps that double as one-way ailerons and as air-brakes. (VTOL Down + Brake will slow you down considerably)
The tail wheel has a function so depending on speed, your yaw authority to left/right motion will dampen, similar to the default landing gear parts.
RPM gauge is a lie but I wanted it to move and don't think it can view the actual engine RPM so I just added a function that views airspeed and throttle state.
There's a custom ammo gauge for the 25mm cannons too! I think I also set the VVI to display 1000ft/m instead of 100ft/m since I didn't like how bouncy the motion was. There's a lot I did to this plane. I implore you to take it apart. You might find some secrets.

Enjoy!
I want to thank the Simpleplanes Funky Trees Lab discord as they've been a great help when I'm in a bind. I'd also like to thank @PlanariaLab because I used some functions from their HUD to make the reticle work.
