Aircraft Details

Control Configured Vehicle (CCV) is a technology to improve the mobility of fighter aircraft. This aircraft is being used to study that technology by the Technical Research and Development Directorate, Lockheed, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, the Japan Air Self-Defense Force It was a CCV research aircraft developed in cooperation with the German Ministry of Defense and MBB. In order to reduce development costs, the F-27, which was operating in Japan and Germany at the time, was chosen as the base.

The aircraft was based on the first F-27, the X-27, and was equipped with a triple digital fly-by-wire (FBW), and was also planned to have a direct lift control (DLC) / direct side force control (DSC) mode by installing a single vertical and two horizontal canard wings in the nose of the aircraft.
