The initial intensive array model of the U.S. Navy ships is Block 0, which provides basic anti-ship missile defense against low altitude, subsonic anti-ship missiles (ASM). Block 1A integrates a new computer to provide more powerful processing capability than the old computer, improves the fire control algorithm to counter mobile targets, searches for multi weapon coordination to better manage engagements, and end-to-end testing functions to better determine system functions. The interface mode upgrade of Block1B is based on the existing capabilities of Block1A, adding a new "Optimized Gun Barrel" (OGB), which provides improved gun barrel life, improved circular dispersion mode and increased engagement range. The upgrade of Block1A and Block1B also provides higher coverage and greater magazine space, increasing the magazine capacity from 989 rounds to 1550 rounds, and increasing the shooting speed to 4500 rounds per minute. The near defense weapon system can also be connected with almost any ship combat system to provide additional sensors and fire control capabilities, and can provide target indication for Raytheon's Hyram missile system and other shipborne weapons.
