This model was the first version of the very successful porsche 917, this specific early versyion of the car was known for habing high amounts of power and very low amounts of downforce which is very important for lemans. It is also said that the drivers driving the car were actually hoping that the car would break down as it was so difficult and unforgiving to drive.
