This locomotive was originally exported to Indonesia by GE Transportation then made in Indonesia by GE Lokomotif Indonesia. This train was meant to strengthen the locomotive fleet owned by Indonesian Railway (KAI) to shorten the travel time between Jakarta and other major city in Java Island. As of now, there are 37 active units.
Dibuat oleh GE, CC203 dibeli oleh Presiden Soeharto untuk mempercepat perjalanan Jakarta-Bandung dan Jakarta-Surabaya. Kabin aerodinamis dicetuskan oleh B.J. Habibie. Sekarang, lokomotif ini menarik segala jenis rangkaian dari kereta penumpang, peti kemas, sampai ketel.
