Overview

The National Aviation (a spoof of Republic Aviation) Model 1 is a fictional fighter aircraft with designs derived from the Republic P-47 (tail), NAA P-51 Mustang (underside intake) and several aircraft (bubble canopy).

Named Aegirocassis by high-ranked airmen after the extinct arthropod of the Cambrian, it is instead called Shenhe by the airmen.

Building process

The fuselage is of my own design, with a Meredith (Meredith effect on aerodynamics) intake (underside intake seen on the NAA Mustang) , wings and horizontal stabilizer of my own design and rudder derived from the bubbletop Republic P-47. The bubble canopy, inflenced by the P-51D, P-47D and Typhoon is used for all-angle visibility and is operated by a hinge. The cockpit is of my own design. It also has two signal lights under the wing and four Yehudi lights on the front.
The livery is the standard dark green with light blue underside.

Flight

At take-off at over 100 kph, it tends to head right by 1.5 to 2 degrees, so using yaw may be a good thing to remedy. Flaps can be used to stabilize the plane as it is nose-heavy.
Flaps at zero at 500 km/h indicated air speed.

Combat

DO NOT PERFORM THE IMMELLMAN TURN. It's weight has a negative effect on the plane. At one test flight, a test pilot executed the turn st 500 km/h IAS, its final speed after performing was 275-335 km/h IAS.
Its six guns are capable of shooting down an un-armored or average enemy in seconds.
