Hell Wyvern

165 ChicoryBlues  8.0 years ago

A ludicrous fighter contemporary with WWII designs (no jets or explosives). If there's anything more dangerous than weapons researchers tasked with designing the most meaninglessly devastating armaments possible, it's when those researchers get bored. With the "advances" of the Mad Wyvern tempered by the return to form that was the Wyvern S, it was clear the Wyvern series had run its course. Out of ideas, the R&D team designed this affront to aviation as a "last hurrah,"- a workplace joke never intended to see production. Boasting such features as 40 machine guns ("because 40 just feels right," according to the blueprints) including four full-sized Hell Spreaders (and one double-sized) with no additional engine power to carry the extra weight, and pointlessly expensive gold plating ("because why not?"), the Hell Wyvern dials the brutal inefficiency of the Mad Wyvern up to eleven. No one, however, was more horrified than the research team themselves, when a clerical error caused one fully-functional Hell Wyvern to actually be constructed. Vastly too expensive to be used in actual combat operations (the cost of the gold plating is nothing compared to the cost of actually firing the Hell Wyvern's full arsenal), the Hell Wyvern instead serves as a mascot of sorts, flaunting its capacity to punch any other aircraft out of the sky, at the expense of extensive friendly fire, property damage, and munitions expenses. The unruly weapons and behemoth pricetag of this gilded beast aren’t the only reasons pilots are exceptionally hesitant to fly it, however. Its immense weight, poor balance, and perpetually-wobbling arsenal help it earn its name- It’s hell to take off, hell to turn, and hell to land, but if it ever gets off the ground, it’s sure to raise hell. (Sometimes the only way to know if you’ve gone far enough is to go too far. I think I’m satisfied with this series now. Please modify to your liking, and enjoy! ~^@)
