One of the most devestating weapons of the Galactic Expansion Era, the railgun was capable of launching a half-ton projectile at over two percent the speed of light. Early models couldn't be mounted on anything but the largest of starships due to the immense recoil generated. Without proper mounting hardware, the railgun oftentimes more likely to damage it's carrier ship than the target. It was only with special shock-absorbing dampers that the railgun could even be considered for mounting onto smaller ships. Use VTOL and trim to aim.
