The CC-138 is the STOL utility transport, search and rescue variant of the de Havilland DHC-6 Twin Otter, made for the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). The DHC-6 has a strong reputation as a bush plane, known for its rate of climb and maneuverability in addition to its STOL capabilities, making it well suited for the needs of the RCAF and the northern Canadian climate. Based on the DHC-6 Series 300, the CC-138 is powered by two PT6A-27 turboprops, producing 680 hp each.
The CC-138 is specifically made for the RCAF, but the DHC-6 is also popular among bush operators and commuter airlines in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Read more…
