History of development: Hpt.Pz.Kpfw. Cerberus AMFK-KW34.182A — Main Battle Tank / Breakthrough Tank:
Background and concept (1973–1975)
In the mid-1970s, the Reich Armoured Weapons Administration concluded that the current universal battle tank, the Leopard (KW23.275), despite constant upgrades, was approaching the limits of its capabilities. The strengthening of the anti-tank capabilities of potential adversaries, the emergence of new types of ammunition, and the experience of local conflicts dictated the need to create a new generation of vehicles. A tank was needed that would ensure absolute superiority on the battlefield for decades to come thanks to three key qualities: impenetrable protection, accurate first shot and tactical mobility.
Start of development (1976)
Development of the KW34 project began in February 1976. The work was led by a design bureau headed by Dr. Wolfgang Krüger, known for his radical approach to armour protection.
The concept was bold: instead of seeking a compromise between mobility, protection and firepower, as in the Leopard universal battle tank, AMFK decided to achieve maximum performance in all areas by relying on new materials and technologies
Testing and refinement (1977–1981)
The first prototype, KW/VK34.182EX1, entered testing in October 1978. It confirmed the calculated characteristics of protection and firepower, but revealed serious problems:
· Unreliability of the new automatic loading system: The system malfunctioned frequently, negating the advantage in rate of fire.
· Engine overheating and transmission overload when driving over rough terrain.
· Complexity and high cost of manufacturing Lariuz Mk.I multi-layer armour.Work came to a standstill. Prince Justinian and his drive for technological breakthrough saved the day. In 1979, the programme was granted "Critically Important National Programme" status, which opened up unlimited funding. By 1981, AMFK engineers had solved the key problems
Adoption and start of production (1982-1983)
On 15 June 1982, after successful military trials, in which the Cerberus conditionally "destroyed" two platoons of Leopard tanks without losses in training battles, Kaiser Karl IX signed a decree on the adoption of the Hpt.Pz.Kpfw. Cerberus AMFK-KW34.182A into service with the Imperial Land Forces (Reichsheer).

woh so amazing!!
i bet it cant beat an L3
@AugustVonMartis Ye! Thanks for details. I'm not so intelligenced about Tank types.
@Kav I would say that S-130E is closer to a tank destroyer than a main battle tank.
@Kav from the S-130E

@AugustVonMartis
I meant this
@AugustVonMartis No no I mean blackgears' s-130
@Kav I wouldn't say that the S-130s are heavy, they are only 45 tons (like the average Panther tank), but they are definitely slow.
@AugustVonMartis lighter than s-130 I mean. :)
They are so heavy, we need something more agile.
@AugustVonMartis Oh sorry for Misunderstanding!😅
@Kav light?
@TitanVector It's not that I'm happy for you, it's just that I didn't understand when you managed to overtake me.
@AugustVonMartis oh ...
Sorry if this made you sad.
I didn't mean to be disrespectful. I was serious about spotlighting.
@AugustVonMartis No problem! We need some light armored vehicles.
@Kav I think so, but it has only just entered service and there are only a few of them, so exports are limited.
@Kav yay, thx!
Can Avyro purchase some?
Beautiful as always!
@TitanVector Wait... When did you manage to overtake me?...
@TitanVector oke!
Please remind me to spotlight this later.
