The AMX CDL ("Chasseur de Loups", or "Hunter of Wolves") was a joint project between Chrysler and AMX. It had the chassis of the T110E7A3, a French-designed turret, and a French 170mm ATGM launcher. Two more ATGMs were mounted on the left side of the turret, with an internal capacity of sixteen missiles. It had a crew of five: Commander, Gunner, Driver, and two Loaders. Two prototypes were completed in March of 1953, and tests proved that the design was adequate for its intended role of coastal defense (it was to be used for anti-shipping purposes). The two prototypes were converted to production-ready models in 1955, and the Type entered service as the AMX-66. The two tanks remained in service until 1981, when one was sent back to the US (and is now housed in the Aerostyle Military Archives facility), while the other was kept in France (and was later scrapped in 2003).
