The MIG-3 was a single-seat piston fighter used by the Soviet Union in World War II. The aircraft was designed by the Migojan-Gleevich Experimental Design Bureau, then part of the First National Aircraft Factory, but the original design idea came from the Polykarpov Design Bureau K. In the latter part of the war, when the fight for air supremacy became more important, mig began to make its mark. It was especially suitable for air combat above 5000 meters, so mig was usually put into service in the Territorial Air Defense Force (PVO), and was used to intercept bombers and reconnaissance planes coming from high altitude.
Throughout the fall of 1941, the MIG-Design Bureau was busy replacing the Mig-3 with a new engine. In early August, the MIG-3 was fitted with a Kerimov AM-38 engine, which was improved in power but decreased in low-altitude performance. The mig-3AM-38, named after the replacement engine, weighed 3,325 kilograms, slightly larger than the MIG-335A-mounted mig-3AM-38. During the test flight, the mig-3AM-3's first MIG-3AM-38 had a maximum sea level speed of 514 km/h and an altitude maximum speed of 582 km/h. In subsequent mikoyan, anastas ivanovich's suggestion, the designers have some of the details of the machine modification, the modified mig - 3 am - 38 fighter of air and sea maximum speed are improved, which up to 547 kilometers per hour, this is not only faster than at the time the Soviet equipment of all types of fighter jets, but more than the germans at that time the fastest Bf109F2 and Bf109F4 fighter jets.
