F-300-C5 StarHawk (PSM Challenge)

9,827 SkyJayTheFirst  2.2 years ago
Auto Credit Based on ZeroWithSlashedO's [CLOSED] Post Stall Maneuver Challenge

Had to remove the Dagger Pods to lower the performance cost, and decrease throttle response, all in order to qualify for the PSM challenge. Thankfully, it is now complete. And, unlike the C2 variant, the thrust nozzles on the C5 were replaced with fuselage parts, so no more yaw stability when you activate 2. Btw, please view craft instructions to know how to fly this thing and use its weapons. Please let me know what you think!

    Thank you to:
    @Doomnolymo for the Radar!
    @PlanariaLab for the Hud!
    @GuyFolk for the advice on the last build!
    @BombBoi1822 for the moving thrust nozzle!
    I am putting this in comment form, since I can't link their profiles in the description.

    @GorillaGuerrilla
    Slow is smooth, smooth is fast right?
    lol
    Just like irl, they don't have that high thrust to work with so the engineer have to be creative to achieve psm.
    And also yes, most of my planes have tvc and capable of psm but not all of them, I have some non-tvc planes too.

    @SkyJayTheFirst if u dont mind breaking the rules of physics u can always funky those tiny wing's properties too. but i dont do that i mostly try to see how sp physics works on my airframe to check out my design integrity

    @GorillaGuerrilla if you look inside of the cobra hood on either side of the cockpit, you'll see a wing piece per side. Therefore, its center of lift should be a bit more forward, but it doesn't seem to be. Maybe it's because of the other wing pieces I have set up.

    @SkyJayTheFirst or u can use movable front edges like me to see if u can shift that CoL momentarily forward during manuevers (supposedly) but making those can be time consuming, but u will like it. ft them will be tricky however

    @GuyFolk i would say the 1.4 thrust ratio has made us all slow dancers. but then we still do dance beautifully. btw all u have are tvc'ed psm planes? i havent seen any non-tvc ones downloadable from your list;

    @SkyJayTheFirst
    Yeah, that's the point, they limit your engine thrust so you have to do something else to preserve the same degree of maneuverability.

    @GuyFolk I had to make some adjustments to this to qualify for the PSM challenge. The actual C5 variant has more powerful thrust than this, as well as more weight to the wings with the dagger pods.

    Let's me breakdown something real quick.
    In previous version, this plane have low wing loading but high thrust so it'll be able to overpowered it's stability to stall but this version has lower thrust it can't do that anymore, it can stall and do PSM but it just harder to do.
    Also the rudder folding down add to the plane's overall stability so keep that in mind too.
    A little more backward CoM will make the plane able to do PSM easier since you don't have high thrust to work with.
    Also, the FT code need some tuning as I said in one of the previous version, the code move too little to affect the control.
    I'd say this has a lot of potential hidden in it's hood.

    Mainly because I haven't tried it.

    Damn this is looking better every time, that afterburner especially. As for the flight model, I feel that some yaw stability in needed after the rudders fold down, it slips with the slightest input
