Dewoitine D.520

4,252 Droslash  8.4 years ago

The Dewoitine D.520 is a French WWII Fighter designed in 1936 and entered into service in 1940. It was used by the FAF (French Air Force) and later on by the FFAF (Free French Air Forces). Unfortunately, due to delay in production, the D520 played a minor role in the Battle of France.

During Takeoff, hold Pitch Up all the way otherwise the plane will have the tendency to tip foward and hit the ground :s.

Do not start shooting until the propellers are fully launched. (otherwise you will shoot your props off)

EDIT: For more manoeuvrability, put deadweights (2 fuselage blocks at the front) at 500lbs instead of 1000.

The more speed you have the better it will behave.

Thanks to Skua for the insignias.

@Droslash sweet, I'm glad I could help. It's a cool plane, I felt like the potential just needed unlocking a little

@Skua I tried with 500lbs deadwieght in each and yes its less front-heavy and behaves a little better. Damn it! i should spend more time on my builds before uploading, this is what happens when you rush it. Thanks for the advice though, it will come in handy for my next planes

@Skua I put some dead weights because the CoM and CoL were too close from eachother, so i put that to make the CoM go foward. Without those it was flying not very well. I Don't really know why i put some Pitch, they seemed to have two controls surfaces on each wing on blueprints, i just stupidly assumed one was for Pitch and the other for Roll. I will try with 500lbs and do what you say, Thanks for your feedback ;) It will help for my future builds

@Droslash it does look good. It flies alright too, but I'm confused aboiut a couple of things:

    • Why is there quite so much dead weight in the nose?

    • Why do you have those pitch control surfaces on the main wings?

I found that it flew really nicely once the dead weight was reduced from 2000lbs to 500lbs, the pitch control surfaces on the main wing were removed, and the ones on the stabilisers were reduced in size just a little bit

@Skua Cool thanks :) But its not the best plane i made (but it looks cool imo). The Me410 replica i made yesterday behaves way better.
