The Dyson is a forward-looking design by Epic Engineering that aims to make the joy of jet-propelled flight more available for everyone.

Background

Based on modern design studies for compact aircraft, the Dyson is a small, one-man personal jet aircraft. With small, perhaps even sub-compact jets not being a common sight, we aimed to create an affordable airframe that is easy and intuitive to familiarize oneself with.

Design

This plane features a canard design that almost borders on a tandem wing layout.
Airflow to the jet engines is guaranteed with our in-house experimental Capillary AirFlow Systems (CAFS), enabling our compact engine to be supplied with enough air. Of course, given the size and ease of use, the engine is not a powerhouse, providing a top speed of around 400kmh at 3000 metres. Please note that the landing gear is not retractable to reduce complexity and thus cost.
The cockpit features 3 integrated multifunctional touch screens for easy in-flight use.

Handling

This is a slow plane with but the overall handling is very forgiving. This plane is ideal as a first solo-flight aircraft, with decent AOA and roll rate. Despite not having a traditional tailfin, yaw control is still predictable thanks to the control surfaces on the oversized winglets.
