The TA-4KU Skyhawk, the two-seat trainer version of the A-4KU, was developed alongside the single-seat variant for the Kuwait Air Force (KAF) in the late 1970s. Based on the advanced A-4M airframe, the TA-4KU retained full combat capability while also serving as an operational conversion and training platform. With dual controls and nearly identical systems to the A-4KU, it allowed seamless transition for pilots and could also perform in secondary strike and support roles.

Like its single-seat counterpart, the TA-4KU was powered by the Pratt & Whitney J52-P-408A turbojet engine, delivering a top speed of 675 mph (1,086 km/h). It featured five external hardpoints capable of carrying up to 9,900 lbs (4,490 kg) of munitions, along with two internal Colt Mk 12 20mm cannons, making it a versatile and heavily armed trainer.

Key features of the TA-4KU included:

Advanced avionics and navigation systems, based on the A-4M, tailored for high-temperature and desert environments.

HUD (Head-Up Display) and improved cockpit ergonomics for better pilot situational awareness.

Dual control configuration, allowing both training and combat operations.

Full compatibility with NATO-standard weapons, including bombs, rockets, and missiles.

Combat-capable, with air-to-ground and limited air-to-air mission support roles.

The TA-4KU served alongside A-4KUs during the Gulf War, and many airframes remained intact after the conflict. Though primarily used for training, the aircraft could be pressed into front-line service in emergencies, highlighting its robust multirole design.

Several TA-4KU airframes, like the A-4KU, were later transferred to Brazil, where they continued service under the Brazilian Navy as part of the AF-1 fleet. Their operational longevity and adaptability further affirmed the enduring legacy of the Skyhawk family.
