"This soviet hunk of junk just about the fastest thing you'll see in the side of the of the earth."
The Mig 25 Foxbat is a mach 2.8 interceptor development by the nation of Ordosa in the 1960s and entered service in 1969. In reaction to the B-70 Valkyrie entering mass production the Mig 25 was created as a counter to it. It would be known as one of the fastest interceptor in the world. The Mig 25 would be produced in enormous numbers through Ordosa and it's allies around the world.
The Bomber Crisis
In the 1960s the Ordosan government pushed for the creation of a high mach 2 interceptor to be used all around the large nation. The plane was made to be a counter to newer Ursean bomber such as the B-52 and B-58. This program progress slowly due to the airforce's focus on the ICBM program and SAM programs. While the XB-70 program was known about and talked about in the design Beurau, it wasn't expected to enter service due to the new focus on ICBM by both sides. That would soon change.
22nd of September 1967, radars across Ordosa would tracked an unknown object travelling at speeds of over mach 3. Every available interceptor was scrambled, Tu-128 and Su-15 would take off to try and chase the intruder, None of them managed to catch up to it. The intruder would later be identified as the new B-70 bomber. This incident would cause mass panic through the government and push the acceleration of the Mig-25 program.
The Mig-25 would be produced in enormous numbers as they were very important to the defense of the motherland. Hundreds of Foxbat would be produced all around Ordosa and later in other countries. These Foxbats also be exported to many countries through the world. One of these nation that bought up mig 25s would be Nontrea.
Design
The Mig-25N Foxbat is the designation for the export of the Mig-25PD in Nontrean service. Equipped with R-40T and R-73 air to air missile. It's two powerful R-15BD engine allows it to reach speed of up to mach 3. This version of the Foxbat is equipped with RWR and flare dispenser, allowing it to be more survivable than other versions.
Nontrea and the Migs
In the 80s the nation of Nontrea would begin to shop around for new aircraft for their airforce. They were trying to replace their old mig 17s and mig 19s. Eventually they would buy a combination of Mig-23s and Mig-25s. At the time Nontrea was a allied toward Ordosa and subsequently would also bought up other Ordosan weaponry like Su-22s, T-62M, and a sovremenny class destroyer.
In 1994 a regime chance in Nontrea happened, after several years of bad government decision a new government was elected. This new government was more brash and this worried several nations around them, one of which was their close neighbor serevista.
After a build up of tensions serevista would launch a preemptive strike, hitting major roads and bridges. These early strikes failed to hit any of Nontrea's major airbase due to the prevalence of S-200 and SA-6 batteries around them. Nontrean migs began launching hit and run attacks on Serevistan A-4 Skyhawks and F-5 Tiger, these attacks would often be foiled by Serevistan F-104s. The attrition on both sides were quite slow initially and progress in the air was slow.
Mig-25 foxbats would employ a homebrew strategy for ambushing Serevistan aircraft. They would first launch R-40s at long range and usually high altitudes to force their enemy to go down in altitude. Then using their superior speed they would close the range and launch a hail of R-73s at close range. Finally the Foxbats would run away back towards SAM territory.
Throughout the war Mig-25s would continually harassed Serevistan aircraft. This air campaign would end after Nontrea managed to acquire AGM-88 Harms. These missile would slowly push back SAM coverage and eventually put the airbases housing Mig-25 into bombing range.
On the 4th of August 1995 a large sortie of Serevistan Aircraft would launch a large scale SEAD operation. This operation open up the Mig-25 bases to air attack. Before most of them could take off their airfields were bombed, and the few that managed to take off were hunted down by F-5s and F-104s. Eventually a few managed to climb and accelerate away from danger, but the damage had been done. By that point 16 of the original 24 still survived, but after the strikes only 4 aircraft managed to get away safely, the rest were either destroyed outright or damaged beyond repair.
After the strikes nontrean ground forces would be marching toward Serevista mostly unescorted. This lack of guardian from A-4 strikes caused heavy attrition on their ground forces and eventually lead to the end of the war on the 1st of September 1995.
