Douglas C-47 Dakota

Hello! This is my first build using blueprints, and it ended up pretty well! This took me like 3 days to make. Anyways, here are the control groups. AG 1: Engine 1. AG 2: Engine 2. AG 3: Activates the doors on the side, and you can use trim to open and close them. AG 4: Activates the wing lights. AG 5: activates a system where it enhances the engine speed, or can be used to navigate onthe ground without starting the engines. AG 6: Once you open the doors, you can use this activation group to send out an airdrop. Here is some history. The C-47 differed from the civilian DC-3 in numerous modifications, including being fitted with a cargo door, hoist attachment, and strengthened floor, along with a shortened tail cone for glider-towing shackles, and an astrodome in the cabin roof. During World War II, the armed forces of many countries used the C-47 and modified DC-3s for the transport of troops, cargo, and wounded. The U.S. naval designation was R4D. More than 10,000 aircraft were produced in Long Beach and Santa Monica, California and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Between March 1943 and August 1945, the Oklahoma City plant produced 5,354 C-47s.The C-47 was vital to the success of many Allied campaigns, in particular, those at Guadalcanal and in the jungles of New Guinea and Burma, where the C-47 and its naval version, the R4D, made it possible for Allied troops to counter the mobility of the light-traveling Japanese Army. C-47s were used to airlift supplies to the encircled American forces during the Battle of Bastogne in Belgium. Possibly its most influential role in military aviation, however, was flying "The Hump" from India into China. The expertise gained flying "The Hump" was later used in the Berlin Airlift, in which the C-47 played a major role until the aircraft were replaced by Douglas C-54 Skymasters. Here are some pictures.

@BigmacBaggins123 Thank you! yeah the thing is, I was thinking that you wouldn’t be dropping the crate at full speed, but around 140mph to 160mph it should be good to drop the crate. Maybe if I ever update this plane, I can increase the detachment force of the crate so it throws it out farther and doesn’t have a chance to hit the tail.

Nice looking build! From what I’ve noticed pottering around I’d be inclined to Xml a normal vert stab by a third and then increase the size accordingly to help the yaw stability. Hope this helps - keep these coming!

Overall, I think it’s a great plane, but I did notice one problem though. Whenever I’m flying level while deploying the crate, it strikes the tail and the whole plane blows up.

Hey guys! Thanks! I just want to say I’m sorry that the handling is dogshit, but I would compare it to something that beastly in size, so I’d say it fits it. Anyways, you guys got me to 1k points! You guys are absolute legends! If you follow my account, I will be posting more older planes from around ww2 if you want to get notifications. Also, I appreciate the upvotes! =D

Very nice build . The DC3 has a line that is difficult to reproduce .
