For the Fictional Fighter Challenge
Lore: The People’s Republic of Gendor, not having a full carrier based navy, wanted a fighter that could be launched off of cruisers and battleships, and be returned by crane. The Mesla Aviation Company decided to take on the venture, and would create a twin boom floatplane design that was catapult capable. Designated as the Mes-501, for being the first “miscellaneous” aircraft the company made under the new designation system, it would be put into service in 1935. The design was revolutionary in some ways, including being a monoplane design with mixed construction, using 2 Frusti V-12 engines with a single stage super charger, and having 4 machine guns in the front of the pod. But, it did have its drawbacks, including only barely going past 230mph, mostly due to the less than powerful engines and high drag of the floats, the cockpit was absolutely tiny with barely any wiggle room, and it was very difficult to land on water, being necessary for the fact it was a floatplane, but the pilots quickly learned how to land without flipping it over.
This is not all the way complete, felt like I should put something out though, see if it would be fun for people to fly
