United Aircraft TurboTrain (Road)

23.9k SpartanSR91  6 days ago

This is a modified version of my United Aircraft TurboTrain that doesn't need train map plugins to function. Each 'train' wheel has been modified to be more at home on conventional terrain, complete with suspension physics. The main powerplants have been moved higher up to allow some water crossings, and made more powerful to help pull the cars through getting high-centered. For additional tractive effort, each bogie is now 'powered' (see additional notes for details).

Controls:

Throttle: Engine Power

Roll: Steer Left/Right

LandingGear: Change Direction

Brake: Apply Brakes

AG8: Toggle Gyros

Additional Notes:

  • Works on any map, as long as wheel suspension physics are supported

  • The HUD is still calibrated for hpgbproductions' North Railway Map (Funny Number)

  • This build tops out at over 230 mph (370 kph) on level ground

  • The active tilting mechanism has been removed. It's been replaced by a passive, toggleable stabilizer gyro on each car.

  • The Flight computer has been moved to Power Car A. Power Car B retains its orbit camera.

  • If you are not sure which direction you're heading, check the exterior lights.

  • There are 3 different steering mechanisms on board: (The forward bogie, each wheel on said bogie, and Power Car A's gyroscope when above 170 mph)

  • Each car's wheelset has been given a pair of VTOL Nozzles to spread thrust to each car. (The original Turbotrain had 4 nozzles, 2 on each power car)

Now imagine you're lost in the desert. Has it been days? Has it been weeks? you don't know anymore.
Suddenly this thing hurtles past at over 200 mph and jumps a sand dune...complete with Whistling Dixie horn...best lay off the cactus juice.
