An unlikely progenitor of a very successful line of planes, the Bustard was on its own a very simple plane(ha!) Designed in 29' and fielded in 34', Bustards were deployed as aerial APC's and squad transports. Specialized teams of high priority would be inserted into hot zones and less than ideal LZ's.

Bustards served another role, however. The 'FT' in the classification denotes that this is a fighter/transport. The 8 guns equipped were meant to give this thing a fighting chance against would be interceptors. It was by unaccounted for luck that the plane excelled at this.

Prior to helicopters this was as closed as you could get to direct drops. In the field of STAL this was a pioneer. It was due to its unconventionally strong design and armament, coupled with irregularly good maneuverability for a transport that interest in further development on this platform was spurned.
The series of planes to follow took this concept to the next level.

This will be the first in a series of planes if you're interested. Also posting images in descriptions really sucks Jundroo. Link always breaks.
