S-400 Triumf ( Russian : ?-400 ?????? , "S-400 Triumph ") is a Russian mobile air and missile defense system , developed by the Almaz-Antei company . As of 2015, the radar is said to be able to hook 80 [ 2 ] targets and control up to 160 [ 3 ] missiles . It also has an anti- missile capability [ 4 ] . It is a generation 4+ anti-aircraft system.In 2019, it is considered one of the most modern air defense systems in the world. The S-400 would notably be much more modern than the American MIM-104 Patriot for a lower cost. For Igor Delanoé, of the Franco-Russian Observatory, the Russians have with this system “an obvious qualitative lead over their competitors” [ 5 ] .Two batteries are deployed in Belarus by Russian forces in January 2022 [ 6 ] .
