Following the success of Airbus's large-scale projects, the European company sought to enter the single-airplane market. Airbus's first attempt in this area was called the A320, which, in addition to its excellent features, is itself the maker of three other successful Airbus models, the A318, A319 and A321. The Airbus A321 is very similar to the Airbus A320 but has a more elongated body and is capable of accommodating more passengers. Construction of the Airbus A321 began in 1989 and first flew on March 11, 1993.
