📖 About LOT flight 16 and the historic emergency landing event
On November 1, 2011, LOT Polish Airlines flight 16 departed from Newark (USA) to Warsaw (Poland) on a Boeing 767-35DER, registration number SP-LPC. During the flight, the crew discovered that the main hydraulic system controlling the landing gear had failed, preventing the aircraft from lowering.

After several laps around the airport to burn fuel and prepare for an emergency, Captain Tadeusz Wrona and his co-pilot performed a brave and skillful belly landing at Warsaw's Chopin Airport. No passengers or crew were injured. This is one of the most famous emergency landings in the world and is considered an aviation miracle.

The SP-LPC was severely damaged and never flew again. It was officially retired after the incident.
