The Su-33N Flanker-N is basically a Nekoslavian version of the Su-33 flanker-D with minor changes and different look.
Unlike the original Russian version of Su-33, Su-33N have better radar, target tracking ability and ECM; but maybe less maneuverable.

Due to the "Wave of Fulcrum", Su-33N was designed in 1970 during the 2nd Continental War to encounter the Mig-29 Fulcrum.
Although the agility may not fully suppress the Mig-29, but Su-33N still borned a lot of flying aces and ace squadrons during both 2nd and 3rd Continental War.

[Design History]

In 1969, during the 2nd Continental War, the United Power starts using Mig-29 Fulcrum in the war. As the KDP still using KN-20s/J35 series and Su-9/Su-11/Kn-17 series fighter jet, the Mig-29 gave a huge impact to the KDP air force. From the radar/RCS to the agility, the Mig-29 almost took all the advantage which makes KDP Air Force start taking medium to heavy losses in each battle. Thanks to the good gunnery on Anti-Air Artillery, the KDP didn't lost all air superiority to the UPAF's Mig-29.

But keep using AAA to maintain air superiority is not a good idea for a long time, the KDPAF needs a better plane immediately.
As results, the Nekoslavia Aircraft Manufacturer - "Blin industry" received an urgent letter about that from the KDPAF. But creating a brand new design could need a long time for around 4 years or more, which the KDPAF will not like it.
However, as an Leitkavian Air Force Mig-29 got shot downed into the Nekoslavia's territory, the Blin Industry see this as a chance and grabbed the Mig-29 to research it.
After the research, Blin Industry found that Mig-29 have a disadvantage:

  • The Mig-29 is small, in addition the engine is pretty fuel consuming which makes the Mig-29 can't travel for long range. That means the Mig-29 could possibly placed pretty near the battlefield or in other words, inside the artillery bombing range, which if spotted the Mig-29 could get destroyed before take-off.
  • Also, as Mig-29 is small, it can't carry too much weapons or missiles on it. As the KDPAF is pretty good at dodging missiles, the Mig-29 can only become a gun fighter.

As results, the Blin Industry decided to reverse engineering the Mig-29 to help creating an better fighter.
In 1970, Blin Industry successfully created an final product of Su-33N. It's bigger than the Mig-29 for long-range sortie and carrying more weapons on it. Bigger size means larger RCS, so they used the DSI Inlet to reduce the RCS.
For the canards, it's for providing better agility and high AoA landing for carrier landing.

[Combat History]

[Aerial Battle of Belkrov]

The first battle that Su-33N joined is the Aerial Battle of Belkrov in 1971, where the UPAF attempted to destroy the Blin Industry and other Factories.
UPAF sent 60 F-4 Phantoms with LGB along with 30 Mig-29 in the mission. To avoid the Nekoslavian Anti-Air Artillery, they flew above 35,000ft.
Meanwhile, NAF sent "Slava Squadron" operating 20 Su-33N and 40 Su-11 into the mission. Through careful planning, 20 Su-33N successfully sneaked behind the UPAF flight squadron and fired 20 BFM-10M on each Mig-29s. As BFM-10M were Infrared Guided, the Mig-29s didn't receive missile lock warning. 10 Mig-29 were downed, 20 remaining Mig-29 turned towards, locked on all Su-33Ns and fired total of 40 R-27. But the Su-33N managed to dodge all the missiles; later that the Su-33Ns fired another wave of 20 BFM-10M, the Mig-29s popped flares and evaded all the missiles.
As missiles can't do anything, 20 Su-33N and 20 Mig-29 clashed together and got into a dogfight. The 30 other NAF Su-11s took the chance and goes for the F-4s, the 10 remaining provides support for the Su-33Ns.
In the dogfight, although the NAF Su-33N's agility didn't suppress the Mig-29, but via some help from 10 Su-11 and some teamwork, they successfully shot down all 20 Mig-29 with losing 4 Su-33N in this battle. Meanwhile as the F-4 phantoms lost the help from the Mig-29, 55 F-4 were downed by 30 Su-11, while only 5 F-4 escaped from the airspace and survived.

Summary of the Aerial battle of Belkrov

Nekoslavia Air Force

  • 4 Su-33N lost

United Power Air Force

  • All 20 Mig-29 and 60 F-4 lost

[Battle of Sibira City]

Also known as the first battle between the aces from 2 sides took place in 1975.
Sheznovakia Air Force Squadron SAF "Foxhound" flying 30 Su-33N along with serval other squadrons and bombers went to help the KDP to retake the Sibira City. As they providing escort for the CAS planes, they encountered the UPAF Ace Squadron "Karov" that were flying 20 Mig-29 and 15 F-16.
With the experience in the Battle of Belkrov, both ace squadron immediately close in without doing BVR match and started a 20 minutes dogfight.
Although the KDP won the Battle of Sibira City, but both SAF "Foxhound" and UPAF "Karov" squadron ended up tied without losing any aircrafts.

[The Grand Aerial Battle above Warsaw City]

In 1979, the KDP keep advancing and start getting near Warsaw City. As Warsaw is a strategic valuable city, both United Power and KDP had sent a large amount of troops and equipment in this battle.
The Battle of Warsaw was went very fiercely. Especially the "Grand Aerial Battle", where both side had sent over 1600+ fighter jets including almost all ace pilots and ace squadrons that were available into the battle.
Thanks to the factory's efficiency, over 700 Su-33N were available and 500 Su-33N were used in this battle with 228 Su-33N were operated by the ace pilots.
The battle ends after both side fighting for 3 months with KDP successfully retake Warsaw. Both United Power and KDP took heavy losses, but KDP downed many UPAF aircrafts which weakened the United Power.
Serval KDP aces were killed including Frank "Leopard" Günter, Leonardo"Mogu-1" Ezuna and 13 other nameless aces. But for the United Power, they lost Ace Squadron "Karov" and "Maiev" including 20 aces within.
44 Su-33N were shot down during the dogfight in this Grand Aerial Battle. But aside that, the Su-33N proofed its great performance. It becomes very popular to the pilots after this battle.

Summary of the Warsaw Grand Aerial Battle

KDPAF's casualties

  • 44 Su-33N
  • 200+ Su-9/Su-11
  • 218 Su-17/22
  • 192 J35/KN-20 Series Fighter

UPAF's casualties

  • 160 F-15
  • 187 F-16
  • 200+ Mig-29
  • 100+ Mig-23
  • 183 Mig-21

[The Sinking of the VRN Conquer]

In 1992 the Battle of Valia, as the United Power already lost all occupied territory from the KDP, they sent their Battlecruiser VRN Conquer for a one last push.
As spotted, the NSOF "Thunderstorm" operating the Su-33N were ordered to support the navy to sink the Conquer. Meanwhile other ace squadrons were ordered to support the troops on the land via providing air superiority and CAS.
Even the Conquer have strong Close-in defence ability, but "Thunderstorm" squadron managed to knocks out the CIWS on tbe ship. As Conquer lost all Active Protection System, it got sunk by a tons of rounds that came from 20 KDP Battlecruisers.

[Retirement]

In 1997, as the Nekoslavian KC-11 started serving the KDP Air Force, Su-33N started being retired until 2009 fully withdrawn from the KDP service.
Although the Su-33N only served the KDP for 38 years, but it gave a lot of experience on researching the KC-11.
Thr KC-11 have better air combat ability and agility than Su-33N, but the for the wing size the Su-33N can carrier more big bombs. As results, the Su-33N changed it role from air superiority to ground support.
The "3 endgame wars" is the last conflict that Su-33N were operated, mostly used on CAS and Air Interdiction. As the aces already moved from Su-33N to KC-11, Su-33N only downed 3 F-18, 4 F-16, 3 F-15 and 1 F-22 in these 3 wars.
In 2009, as United Power has fallen in the 3rd Continental War, Su-33N are fully withdrawn from the KDP service. But instead of being scrapped, they are transferred to reserve stocks until now.

[Ace pilot lore - "Wildcat"]

Yes, if you checked out the list of Su-33N ace pilots, you may saw that there's a pilot called "Wildcat" who downed over 400 planes.
There's not much information about "Wildcat" is available, but as there were once some KDP pilots flew next to her, some known information can be read:
"Wildcat" is known as a cat girl who wears black coloured school uniform like clothing. She didn't get recruited, but instead she is helping, more like self-volunteering the KDPAF fighting the United Power during the 2nd Continental War.
She appeared in the battlefield in 1971, same date as the Su-33N's first battle. Fun fact is that she also flies the Su-33, but it's still a mystery about how did she get the Su-33 into her hand.
In 1979, she participated the Grand Aerial Battle on Warsaw. In this battle, she shows her strength via pulling a impossible 20Gs of turning; extremely fast reaction speed and pulled many unexpected aerobatic movement. With these ability, she shot downed 175 United Power's aircraft in this battle, thats around 20% of UPAF'S aerial casualties.
After the Battle of Warsaw, the UPAF pilots, even their top aces are scared of her. As the name of Wildcat keep spreading, she is getting famous among the KDP pilots.
However, the last time she appeared is in 1990, when the KDP took back all their land, she was never to be seen again. Maybe she went back to her secret base somewhere in the snowy mountain and having a normal life there until now.
However, for the KDP's security agency, the Su-33N project was supposed to be kept in secret, which the "Wildcat" were not supposed to able to get the Su-33N that early; or in other words, as she never serve the military, she shouldn't be flying the Su-33.
As results, in 1996 right after the 2nd Continental War, the Nekoslavian security agency "The O council" investigated the Blin Industry to find out is there any mistakes that letting the "Wildcat" stole the Su-33N. But they couldn't find anything in the end.
There's still a lot of mystery about "Wildcat", but as she disappeared, the answer may never come out.
