V4 with 2speed transmission

1,611 Twinscrew  6.3 years ago

A smaller, upgraded version of my previous motor with a two speed transmission added. Instructions: Throttle to 50% —> Activate group 1 —> Throttle to 100% —> Activate group 2 for 2nd gear...... VTOL = forward/reverse //throttle is linked to gear change so it needs to be at 100%\

    Nice one.

    @Twinscrew I was looking at my engine again, I think some of the problem may be from the angles of the two disks or maybe the piston isn't moving the proper distance.

    @AeroEngineering That thing is definitely interesting. I'll see what I can do.

    I have this old piston engine concept that I never got working well. Not asking you to fix it but if you could test it and give me feedback on potential ways to make it run smoother that would be appreciated.
    Also that transmission looks amazing, not to mention the engine. You have a new follower!

    @MethaManAircraft I like where it's at, but if I were to improve it I would want to: make it smaller, operate smoother, operate at 100% piston speed, & possibly prevent breaking/locking up under heavy load. Oh, and I'm currently working on a rear differential. So I'll have a fully mechanical vehicle soon.

    @Twinscrew This is really cool! I've never seen anyone make piston engines like that before, how would you want to improve the design?

    @MethaManAircraft they help force the pistons/crankshaft in the right direction. They also help to keep tension during rotation so it doesn't lock up when it reaches top dead center.

    @Visify Check this out!
    Yo man! Do the springs on the pistons actually add performance + reduce vibes?
