This aircraft was meant as a high-speed interceptor, to take on the marauding B-29 bombers, though it's performace was exceptional it's engine was much heavier than expected this reduced the climbing ability of the aircraft, because of Japans dire state no further resources were spent on fixing the problems and the aircraft was scrapped
