Beleit C-9E "Allegro Advanced"
The Beleit C-9E Allegro Advanced, or Stallion, is a 4th generation multirole fighter derived from the C-9. It was designed to combine the capabilities of the F/C-8 Peregrine and C-9 Allegro in a single package, while also giving it the capabilities to carry newer specialized equipment. The Allegro Advanced and its derivatives can be distinguished from earlier C-9 variants by its larger nose cone, which fits a more powerful radar, and its canted vertical stabilizers. Some derivatives of the Allegro Advanced may feature two seat cockpits, more powerful engines, canards, electronic warfare capabilities, and/or nuclear bomb delivery mechanisms, along other things.
Design and Background
The C-9's design can be traced to an earlier Beleit proposal for a compact variant of the F/C-8, which engineers chose to improve on as a more sustainable aircraft for drawn out deployments due to lower operation costs. Specifically, the engineers aimed to create a smaller, cheaper, and more easily modifiable strike aircraft for the navy with the C-9's design.
The C-9's early models were equipped with two AviaTech SLa-T29 afterburning turbojet engines each capable of producing up to 50 kN of dry thrust and 80 kN of afterburning thrust (note: engine thrust is significantly greater in game in favor of performance) that enabled it to reach speeds up to 2,100 km/h at high altitudes, while later variants were equipped with SLa-14 afterburning turbofan engines which allowed it to reach over 2,500 km/h at high altitudes.
The C-9 would see many modifications over the course of its service history, both by the State Federation of the Asian Union and foreign operators of the aircraft.
