It is a verification test plane based on the production type refitting of the F-16 fighter. It belongs to the derivative type of the F-16 fighter. A total of two refitted planes have been refitted. This plane continues the characteristics of the F-16 fighter plane, on this basis, the double delta wing is adopted, which makes its multi-performance much better than the former. Tests proved successful, and the F-16XL, which completed its test flight in 1985, was mothballed after it failed to win a bid for the dual-mission fighter. After this project was replaced by the F-15E.
