Main description

The PDAC-MRA-1A is a variant of the PDAC-A1, it is an upgraded variant of its predecessor, and has new modernized features, like a better radar, new formation lights, a better engine powerplant, otherwise known as the PDAC-AE1. It also has new airbrakes.

The main roles of the PDAC-MRA-1A is to be multirole on intercepting and being a strike aircraft.

History

A program has been ordered to vastly improve the PDAC-A1, this is vastly due to the PDAC-A1 being a slow multi role aircraft and was not a relatively good aircraft by armament, there is also more advances in Phillippines aviation technology. Because of the United States, the Philippines can have certain licenses of aircraft equipment from U.S.

In total, a design proposal, now known as the PDAC-MRA-1A, was accepted by the Philippines Air Force and the manufacturer, Philippines Defense Air Company, was now ordered to make these aircraft.

Later in the early 2000s, the aircraft was now in production stage and was starting to get produced in aircraft factories, however due to the large complexities of the aircraft, the production rate was relatively slow, and by the 2010s, only 193 aircraft were built, the PDAC-MRA-1A was not having a good start. When it was reached by prototype stage, there was complaints that the engine was unreliable and was reliably horrible in maintenance stage, this was later solved by having new features and having a new designated variant itself, the PDAC-MRA-1B. The major differences was adding a simple function engine that did the same job of the previous engine powerplant, but was more reliable because of a different engine type and had less moving parts. The B variant in total, was more successful and was produced more than the A variant.

In export countries, they proved relatively useful against the Syrian aircraft, like the Mig-21, Mig-23, and the Mig-25, 3 of Syria's major aircraft in the Syrian Air Force.

In total, the PDAC-MRA-1A could shoot down enemy aircraft that were decades behind easily with its armed machine guns and had a vast variety amount of armament.

The PDAC-MRA-1 eventually replaced the PDAC-1 aircraft, and many aircraft's will still fly many
decades, with the FA-50 Fighting Eagle as well.
