B.Mk1 'Spider' (B)

15 B3nj1  9.3 years ago

The spider was developed by the WIADF from studying crashed examples of the 'Conveyor' bombers of the KAA. Early marks of Spider were inferior to the conveyor in many ways, with insufficient defences and low top speeds. They required a fighter escort in order to operate effectively. continued development of the spider eventually produced a fine aircraft, which still serves today in the auxiliary bomber force of the WIADF, occasionally attacking targets on Snowstone.

The Mk.1 Spider was rushed into production quickly in order to provide the WIADF with a strike capacity. It's fixed defensive armament proved almost pointless, and despite having four engines, it's large weight kept it from performing satisfactorily in evasive manoeuvres. Despite being larger than the "Conveyor' the Mk.1 could not carry a larger armament. Only two Mk.1 Spiders survive, both as training aircraft.
