"Little Eggie" an egged shaped autogryo for the Eggcraft Challenge. It is modeled after "Little Nellie" the Wallis WA-116 autogyro that appeared in You Only Live Twice. Weight, fuel capacity, time to 100 feet, power (throttle set at 0.1 max) and top speed are also patterned after Little Nellie.

Power: 72 hp (723 hp sent to 0.1 max throttle)
Top Speed: Around 130-135 mph at sea level (but increases dramatically at altitude)
Cruising Speed: About 55 mph at 68% power (although like top speed this improves at altitude)..

Armaments: 2 Air-to-Air Missiles. 14 rockets, 2 machine guns and 4 rear firing flame throwers (cannons). I'm still working on the 50 air mines, but ran out of time.

Tips & Tricks:
1.Unlike an airplane, Little Eggie climbs and dives better when turning, especially for sustained climbs and dives.
2. Little Eggie's ability to climb and dive are improved dramatically by the use of VTOL. Just be aware that this will usually be followed by a bit of a yo-yo effect in the other direction, so be carefully doing this close to the ground- at least until you get the hang of it.
3. If Little Eggie starts to sound an an attack helicopter, your rotor is close to overspeeding. Reduce throttle and level out, when overspeeding. If at altitudes where no autogyro belongs (appox. 70,000 feet), catastrophic overspeeding occurs.
4. When taking off, apply a little (1-3 degrees) pitch to help get the main rotor spinning. Rotor speed is more important that ground speed as Little Eggie's source of lift is the spinning main rotor. Combine this with tips 1 and 2 for a fairly fast take off and climb to 1000 feet.

@WinsWings Since you recognize the aircraft and expressed an intenest here is what my "Little Nellie" looks like: https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/B0H05W/Jan-28-23-Little-Nellie-Control-Match
It's not finished and doesn't quite fly and take off the way I want yet, nor are the weapons quite right, so fly at your own risk

It's sort of the Fisher-Price version of Little Nellie for the Eggcraft Challenge. I'm working on the actual "Little Nellie", WA-116, but it's not finished. Some stuff in SImpleplanes acts weird at lower weights.

If I recall correctly, This one has a flaw with the guns not being zero'd out properly, although I might have spotted and fixed that before posting.

If you do make it scout craft then you will probably need to add more weight back. I'd suggest scale the pilot's torso back to x1 and add 150 lbs. for Commander Bond.

BTW, Pity you don't need a sea attack craft. It would be a killer with some mini-torpedoes, and air-to-ground missiles instead of the air-to-air ones. It can use ground effect to skim at sea level and launch tiorps.

@BlackThuNDR Yea 43.5 points! That's better than I expected. I had a ball, or should I say egg?

As far as deployment goes, It's a decent scout craft for flying around the canyons and mountains, and has enough reserve lift thanks to collective (VTOL) to avoid mountains. I believe the actual WA-116 was first submitted as a scout craft. The weapons were just props added on for the movie.

It's a flawed ground attack craft at present, as the rocket pods are accidentally 5 degrees above the point of aim. This was one of a half dozen pesky errors that slipped by me until after I submitted it. I did correct that, reduced Yaw in the gyroscope, added additional pitch control for improved take offs, and the ability to fly level at very slow speeds- say 20 mph at 15 feet above sea level. The improved, fixed version would probably make a nice tank killer, I've done it around the volcano at Krakabloa (it's similar to the volcano in the film). But the fixed version would be something created after the deadline and thus unfair.

So I vote for scout craft. Without the weapons it will actually be lighter and faster.

Thanks for the contest. I had a lot of fun building and flying this, and had to learn new things to get the design to work.I found a bug with Rocket Pods, that causes an aircraft to stop flying, too. So thanks again.

    JUDGEMENT

    .
-flying : 10 (I can't believe I impressed by this flying machine, It fly so satisfying. The rotor power isn't from input.. but came from propeller behind of this craft instead of power from input. Turning like actual auto gyro. Impressive 10/10 for u)
-Detail : 9 (Much detail, using simple livery till to Rocketpod. And detail pilot dummy)
    -EGGY Shape : 8.5 (Eggy :P )
-Extra add on : 8 (specific manual n description, also armament)
-Personal usage : 8 ( awesome experience for piloting autogyro, I very enjoy this )
    .

    Total: 43.5

    Fly away Capt

    Note:
    1. thx for participating my first challenge, I hope u having fun while building this one :)
    2. Thx for following guidelines of challenge :D
    .
    3. I really confused about deploying this autogyros in my egg wars...beside it can deployed as scout autogyro(so i need remove all weapon from it) or attack autogyro, and I need to changed to military livery...also which side u recommended for ur autogyro on this list :)

@BlackThuNDR Thanks. I sort of ran out of time on it before I could add in the air mines and fine tune everything. I should have an improved version in a few days. Thanks for the contest- I learned some new stuff about SP building this.
