The SF-31 Harbinger is the latest in propeller fighter design by Epic Engineering.

Background

This aircraft was designed according to specifications of a distant martial nation which was looking to upgrade its air defence in the mid-1940s. While the requirements focused on performance and firepower, an extra requirement was an imposing presence to act as intimidation in occupied territories. An oddity was also the omission of any sort of identification lights. Apparently, the supreme leader of the mentioned nation "didn't want his war machines looking like Christmas trees." Undeterred, we were able to work with these specifications to produce the SF-31 Harbinger.

Design

This fighter is optimised for high-altitude operations with its imposing wingspan. The 1250-hp supercharged engine is still able to put out a very respectable performance at high altitudes. What also puts this plane at the cutting edge of design for its time is its fully pressurised cockpit, increasing the comfort of the pilot during high-altitude operations. A further aid is provided by the automatic anti-icing system.
Armed with 4 20mm cannons, this plane is on the same playing field as its contemporaries. However, the base model interceptor lacks any hardpoints for ordinance or drop tanks, something which can be easily retrofitted in the field if needed.

Handling

The handling of this aircraft is very forgiving; the increased wing area provides an excellent turning circle at any altitude, while the engine is powerful enough to power through any turbulence. This plane works equally well as a dogfighter as well as an energy fighter.
